Hello,
Have you heard of The Big Challenge?
It’s an English language contest for students between the ages of 11 and 16 and is held every year in April/May in schools across France, Germany, Austria, Spain and Sweden. Created in France in 1999 by a group of English teachers, its main purpose is to motivate students learning English with a fun and educational experience.
Over 600,000 students with 20,000 teachers from 5,000 schools will take part in the next edition on 3 May 2016. The contest is held online right in schools. The questions follow the curriculum outlined in the CEFR and test students’ reading and listening skills.
With The Big Challenge, everyone wins a prize. Each participant receives a diploma and a small prize related to English-language learning (a London or New York poster, an English magazine, …), 50 % receive extra prizes (DVDs about England, large UK or US flags, readers, school diaries in easy English with information about English-speaking countries, …) and top students are awarded prestigious honours (medals, trophies, the First Class National Honours Diploma, …).
Next year we are launching the contest in Italy and we would love to get your opinion on this exciting project.
